PH of a 5% w/v solution in water is 2.1 - 2.6
Grey precipitation is formed with HNO3 and AgNO3

Specific optical rotation in a
10% w / v solution: +20.5o min - +21.5o max

Melting point: ca. 190oC (with decomposition)

solution: Clear and colourless
